To apply for sbi debit card without visiting branch, you need online banking.
If you avail the internet banking facility, follow the below mentioned steps to apply for new ATM/Debit card through online.
Important Information:-
This facility enables you to apply for new State Bank ATM card online either by using OTP or profile password.
Step-by-Step Process:-
- Login to OnlineSBI (https://retail.onlinesbi.com/
retail/login.htm) - Go to ‘e-Services’ tab.
- Click on ‘ATM Card Services’ link in the left panel.
- Five links i.e. ‘Block ATM Card’, ‘ATM Card Limit/Channel/Usage Change’, ‘ATM PIN Generation’, ‘New ATM Card Activation’ and ‘Request ATM/Debit Card’ will be displayed.
- Click on ‘Request ATM/Debit Card’ link.
- Select the mode; Using One Time Password or Using Profile Password.
Using OTP
- If you select the mode ‘Using One Time Password’, INB system will send an OTP on your registered mobile number.
- Enter the OTP.
- Click on ‘Submit’ button.
- Select Primary account.
- Select Secondary account.
- Enter the ‘Name on the Card’.
- Select the ‘type of card’ from the dropdown values.
- Please go through the terms and conditions and accept the terms and conditions by clicking on the box.
- Click on ‘Submit’ button.
- Confirm the details on the next page.
- Click on ‘Submit’ button.
- A success message “Congratulations ! your card request has been recorded. You will receive your debit card within 7-8 working days at your registered address” will be displayed on the screen.
Using Profile Password
- Select the mode ‘Profile Password’
- Enter your profile password.
- Click on ‘Submit’ button.
- Select Primary account.
- Select Secondary account.
- Enter the ‘Name on the Card’.
- Select the ‘Type of Card’ from the dropdown values.
- Accept the terms and conditions by clicking on the box.
- Click on ‘Submit’ button.
- Confirm the details on the next page.
- Click on ‘Submit’ button.
- A success message “Congratulations ! your card request has been recorded. You will receive your debit card within 7-8 working days at your registered address.”
Note: – You will receive your card within 7 working days after submitting the application, directly by Speed post at your recorded address. Kindly collect your PIN from the card issuing branch after receipt of the card and carry your card / passbook as identity proof. You can also generate ATM PIN online using Internet Banking.
Once you received your card block your old card.After blocking the card destroy it cause you can’t use it.

No it doesn’t work with paypal.This is what sbi reply’s on my query about paypal payment “we would like to inform you that PayPal is not participating in 3D Secure which is mandatory for State Bank Group debit cards for doing e-commerce transactions. Therefore transactions done at PayPal are declined at our ATM Switch”.I think it will not allow you without 3d secure pin.

I linked an account(say A/c-2) with my previous account(A/c-1). Now I want to apply for ATM card for A/c-2.
Then which account should I select for ‘Primary Account’ and which for ‘Secondary Account’. Please do reply.

Primary a/c on which you directly wanted to link the card.Your balance will be deducted from this a/c on any transaction done on this card.
So if you want a card for a/c 2, then you have to select a/c 2 as primary, & all other a/c as secondary.

Neither You have to go to branch to get the card working nor You need to active it separately, it is preactivated.Just you have to generate pin online.
To generate pin online:
Login to online banking=>Go to e Services=>Go to ATM Card Services=>ATM Pin Generation Follow the remaining step…

If you want to apply for sbi debit card online then you have to activate your online banking at https://retail.onlinesbi.com/retail/userdrivenregdetails.htm . But you may apply for credit card without online banking.You may apply here https://www.sbicard.com/.
You don’t need to close old atm card before applying.You may maintain both card but you have to bear yearly charge of both card.
Private bank like icici , hdfc, axis bank cards are best credit/debit card for international payment.Though you may try sbi international card at many places but they don’t support paypal as of now.
If you want a safer option then go for virtual card for international e commerce payment.Virtual card issued by HDFC or Kotak mahindra bank.

You have to first activate your atm card.If you only have forgotten the pin, go to any atm & generate a pin.You may also do that on internet banking .Register for internet banking visiting this link https://retail.onlinesbi.com/retail/userdrivenregdetails.htm (please reload the link if it does not work). There is a option to regenerate your atm pin.You can also apply for new atm through internet banking.
If no option works here then call 1800112211, sbi customer care or email to contactcentre@sbi.co.in

after recieving new card, i m not able to activate. it has the procecure to activate the card and generate new pin as well thru sms and online. but when i sent the msg it said, ” invalid transaction”. do i have to block the old debit card first or something else?

Login to internet banking, under e services , find ATM/debit card, now generate pin online.Once you generated pin, you can use now.
Select correct card to generate pin.Also you don’t need to deactivate your old card.

No you can’t apply for debit card from ATM.But you may try for SBI e corner there may be some facility of debit card application though I am not sure about that.

Visa, Master, Maestro they are basically gateway by which your transaction is processed. If I say non technically they are the company which facilitate your payment.
I hope you will not use your card internationally.You may apply for any card listed there.If your old card is visa then you may apply for visa international debit card or visa global debit card.

SBI Gold and platinum international debit cards currently not available to apply, but you can apply Global international debit card. It is work domestic and international both, also you can use on paypal.

SBI debit card is not good at all for international transaction due to SBI policy. PayPal till now don’t accept SBI debit card. Though SBI Visa card works on few international merchant for me. If you don’t want to go with Pvt bank then SBI Visa card is comparatively better.
I recommend you to open a account with a Pvt bank & get a debit card for your international transaction requirements.
